BLAPOW!
BLAPOW! was initially created for my want to do something for Black history month to celebrate the Black women of my hometown who have been pulling no punches in their various fields, but who we might not necessarily know are out there doing their thang!
I then had a rethink, as personally I don’t believe that Black history – or in deed any aspect – should be confined to a limited time. I also didn’t want to limit myself to one demographic, but to converse with, highlight and celebrate us in every aspect.
Hence BLAPOW! being born and standing for Blacknificent Power; an interjection of the emotion, determination and force that we can be when we tap into our energy and let our light shine! Each blog and podcast episode will be formulated on the Blacknificent Power of…, leaving the space open to discuss various subjects with a range of the Black community and our allies.
In keeping with my original idea and supported by HOME Slough using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, the first 4 episodes will be based on the Blacknificent Power of Women in my hometown, shining a light on their achievements and successes.
